Looking for a day trip for you and the family in Bournemouth?

We have rounded up just some the fantastic day trips available for families in the Bournemouth area. We know that planning a trip for the whole family can be a stressful and often under appreciated task, so here are some ideas to help you keep everyone happy, including yourself!

Rock Reef and The PierZip

Opened in September 2014 and winner of a Bournemouth Tourism Award, the Pier Zip Line is the world’s first pier to shore zip wire experience with a launch tower offering panoramic views of the magnificent Bournemouth coastline.

The pier is also home to the Rock Reef centre where the kids can be introduced to clip ‘n climb, stairway to heaven and even the daring leap of faith! Ticket prices vary depending on the experience you are looking for but you can find out more on the Rock Reef website. This is great for a day out as not only is it local to the hotel, its also right on the pier so you are only a stones throw from Bournemouth’s beach, gardens, shops and restaurants.

Adventure Wonderland

Adventure Wonderland, voted Dorset’s top family attraction 2015, is a family run theme park aimed primarily towards families with children aged 2 – 10 years. There is over 30 rides and attractions for the family to enjoy which are all included in one admission price.

Adventure Wonderland is open all year round and there are often special events monthly so make sure you check out their website in advance to see what’s on during your time in Bournemouth. Whatever the weather it’s guaranteed fun for all the family!

Moors Valley Country Park and Go Ape

This is a great day trip if you and the family are hoping to enjoy a refreshing stroll the Forest. Equally there is an option to hire bikes and segways so how you explore is up to you!

Experience a ride on an authentic narrow-gauge steam train or discover the Play Trail which has a series of wooden play areas for the children, dotted along a ¾ mile route. Half way along the Play Trail there is also the option to divert onto the Tree Top Trail, which is an elevated walkway offering birds eye views across the forest!

Finally within Moors Valley is Go Ape, a unique tree-top adventure which includes zip lines, high wires and Tarzan swings to provide a thrilling experience for the whole family.

Snowtrax Dry Ski Slope

The family centre at snowtrax is full of exhilarating activities for both children and parents. Try riding the Ski Bobs or whirling down the slopes in a Ringo. There is also the Alpine Restaurant and Adventure Park with trampolines, swings and a huge fort… so there really is everything you need in one thrilling venue!

Bournemouth Sea Life Centre

An eye opening and educational day out can be had at the local Bournemouth Sea Life centre. Only a short walk from the Ramada Encore hotel you will find over 150 species of fish as well as a diverse range of tropical reptiles and invertebrates.

On the cute and cuddly side there are also otters and a brand new home for 10 playful penguins. Family tickets start from £21.95 for full admission including some displays which take place throughout the day.

Monkey World

Our final recommendation for a family day trip is the ever popular Monkey World, open all year round in the nearby town of Wareham, Dorset. This is a rescue and rehabilitation centre for monkeys from all corners of the globe including Gibbons, Orangutans, Macaques, Chimpanzees and Apes just to name a selection. Family tickets are available from £37.00 for a full day’s admission.

We hope you liked our ideas for just some of the day trips possible for families in Bournemouth. If you are planning a family break and need a cost effective hotel you can trust right in the heart of Bournemouth, then we would love to help. With immediate access to the beach and local shops you won’t regret choosing the Ramada Encore Hotel for your family break.
