There is never an excuse to be stuck for something to do in Dorset.

We are surrounded by simply the most glorious coastline, that can be enjoyed whatever the weather. There is nothing quite like a picnic on the beach, either relaxing in the sunshine, or wrapped up with a thermos flask of soup, after sandcastles or a bracing walk.

The beautiful New Forest has plenty to offer in the springtime or indeed at any time of year. It’s around a half an hour drive from Bournemouth, and a complete contrast to the nearby coast. It’s easy to relax whilst meandering over the gorse covered heathlands, where you can see ponies, deer and sometimes even wild donkeys wandering free.

There are several local museums in the area, which can be visited for free, including the fascinating Swanage Railway Museum and also the Poole Museum, full of local history.
